We arrived as individuals, many of us having never met before, yet there was an almost instant connection. At times it felt as though we had known one another for years.

We laughed.

We cried.

We were vulnerable.

We spoke honestly about our experiences of racism in the workplace.

We shared deeply and intimately, and most importantly, we listened to and heard one another.

There is something incredibly powerful about being in a space where you don’t have to explain, minimise or justify your experience.

Where you feel accepted.

Where you feel understood.

Where you feel SEEN.

Maeve created that space for us.

We related to one another, supported one another and empowered one another. There was so much love in that room.

And throughout it all, I felt something that matters enormously to me.

The freedom to be me.

The healing elements of the day were equally beautiful.

The drumming was deeply grounding, bringing us back into our bodies and into the present moment.

The crystal bowl sound healing was beautiful, releasing, uplifting, aligning and incredibly calming. There were moments of deep relaxation and moments where I could almost feel things being released that words alone couldn’t reach.

By the end of the day, something had shifted.

We left feeling united, peaceful and inspired by what we had heard and shared.

We left with practical support too. Maeve provided us with a folder containing self-care guidance and resources to take away, so the experience didn’t simply end when we walked out of the room.

A group was also created and named so that the connection, empowerment, inspiration and support we found that day can continue.

One participant summed up the experience beautifully.

She said she now felt free to go out and become the best version of herself.

Not for other people.

Not to please anyone.

But for herself.

To love herself and live as herself.

I think that captures something very special about what Maeve created.

When we have experienced racism, particularly within environments where we may have felt silenced, diminished, judged or unseen, being given a space where we can simply be, speak, feel, heal and be witnessed can be incredibly powerful.

This wasn’t simply a sound healing workshop.

It was connection.

It was community.

It was vulnerability.

It was empowerment.

It was healing.

And it was freedom.

Maeve, thank you for holding such a beautiful, compassionate and carefully created space for us all. 💖

A brilliant day that I would wholeheartedly recommend.

And yes, I’ll definitely be attending future events.
